Even in France, Lean can be implemented right

Part 2 – What was different this time around (2:50)

Meet Bianca Azzolin.  She’s French and she is very funny. In this three-part video series, she shares details of the Lean transformation her factory underwent since 2015.  As Production and SAMS (Schoeller Allibert Management System) Manager of their injection moulding factory in Nurieux, France, she shares how, despite failing three times before, they have succeeded in implementing their Lean Management System in France with the help of Alex from CDI’s UK office.  By involving all employees, implementing 5S from the top down to illustrate leadership by behaviour and by practicing Gemba visits daily, they ignited their employees, gaining not only their interest, but their commitment and innovation.  It’s always a joy to hear stories such as Bianca’s.

At first, they did not know their own quality performance – only at the end of the year they would be told how bad that year was – too late to do something.  Maybe next year… And with everyone sitting in their own boxes with doors, communicated using emails and phones, they were often working against one another. By clarifying the value of each employee and what they mean for the organisation a sense of personal purpose was generated.
